Eagle Advancement Procedures

In following our long tradition of quality and fairness, the Cardinal District Advancement Committee has been reviewing the national procedures and policies used to approve Eagle projects and conduct Eagle Scout Boards of Review. The committee is very excited to provide the district with some updates and changes that will improve the consistency and integrity of our Eagle Scout procedure. These updates will keep our district in line with the standards of the National Eagle Court of Honor.

Starting 1 December, 2009 any Life Scout who desires to submit an Eagle Project for approval should send an e-mail to Advancement@CardinalDistrict.net requesting a district representative for Eagle project review. The Scout will receive a response within 24 hours with information on how to contact the committee member that is assigned to his project. The scout must use the representative assigned to him and the Scout himself is responsible for making the contact. Any Committee Chair who desires to schedule a District Representative for an Eagle Scout Board of Review should follow the same procedure.

Greetings Cardinal District Scout Leaders,

To remain consistent and hold true to our commitment to quality and fairness; any Eagle application or project that does not follow the stated procedure will not be considered valid and will be returned to the Scout for re-submission. There will be no exceptions.

Please watch for a follow up letter that will inform your unit about a few additional changes that will be tied into supporting the adult role in the Eagle process. Included in this will be an advancement training feature to help units to properly administer one of the most prestigious awards a youth can earn.

Should you not use e-mail, your request may be submitted to the Advancement Chair by phone at 804-245-6683. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

On behalf of the Cardinal District Advancement Committee,

C. Scott Davis
District Advancement Chair
